Tip of the Week: Handy Shortcuts for Quickbooks Convenience

Tip of the Week: Handy Shortcuts for Quickbooks Convenience

Financial management and accounting are two business needs that apply to all organizations of any size or industry. Fortunately, these organizations have access to tools like Intuit QuickBooks to help them fill these needs in a way that is accessible and convenient.

Let’s review some shortcuts to help you be more productive in managing your business finances via QuickBooks.

There Are Plenty of Shortcuts Available in QuickBooks

Let’s list some shortcuts you can use to accomplish various things.

Working in Forms and Transactions

Several shortcuts can help you work more efficiently while you are creating forms and recording transactions.

  • Moving between pages within forms and reports is simple: press Page Up or Page Down, accordingly.
  • You can record transactions by pressing Enter.
  • Adding or deleting transaction lines is as simple as pressing Ctrl + Insert/Delete.
  • Moving between transaction lines can be accomplished by pressing the Up and Down arrow keys.
  • You can copy and paste transaction lines by highlighting the appropriate transaction, pressing Ctrl + Alt + Y, then navigating to an empty line and pressing Ctrl + Alt + V.
  • Wherever there’s a dropdown menu, you can open it by pressing Ctrl + L while the menu is highlighted. Once the appropriate option is selected, you can add it to your form by pressing Ctrl + U.
  • You can also have QuickBooks “memorize” (or save for later use) forms and their transactions. To do so, press Ctrl + M.
    • Accessing these memories is as easy as pressing Ctrl + T.

Navigating the App

QuickBooks also offers quick and easy ways to get around the app itself. For instance:

  • F1 pulls up the Help window.
  • Press Ctrl + 1 to search for specific transactions, invoices, and other information in the Find Transaction window.
  • Similarly, the Search window, which helps you find customers and accounts, is accessible by pressing Ctrl + 2.
